In January, Tan¡¯s MTV Soldiers won the Golden Award of the 6th CCTV ¡°Sanjiao Cup¡± MTV Competition of Army Songs.


In January, Tan sang Parents Hearts at the Spring Festival Celebration Party held by CCTV and won the 3rd prize among the most popular performance among audiences. Besides, she also attended the Gala concert for the 2000 Chinese Spring Festival held by the Ministry of Culture and CCTV respectively as well as the Spring Festival Gala held by the PLA for senior cadres.


In February, Tan went to Canada, Mexico and America to give performance with staff in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


In April, On the East Mountain Top was appraised as the Best MV in Mainland China for 2002 at the 7th CCTV Jinmage Cup Music TV Competition.


In April, Tan donated 200,000 RMB to build a Spring Bud School in her hometown Xinjiang County, Shanxi Province. She has been appraised as "philanthropy star" by the Chinese Women and Children Fund Association and has been chosen as ambassador of the ¡°Spring Bud¡± project.


In July, her first album of army songs In Peaceful Age was released.


On July 26th, she successfully held her solo concert of army songs ¡°In Peaceful Age¡± at the Beijing Worker¡¯s Stadium.


On August 20th, Tan attended the Evening Party Marking the 100th Anniversary of Deng Xiaoping´s Birth: Hello, Xiaoping held at the Great Hall of the People.


In August, Tan won the title of the Most Popular Top Ten Military Singers among Mongolian audiences.


In September, Tan became one of the top ten singers in the Jinhao Award which is the most popular one of the China Radio Culture and Art Prize.


In October, Tan won the first prize of vocal singing in the 8th PLA Theatrical Festival.


On October 30th, Tan held a solo concert called Stars Glitter Tonight at the Nanfeng Plaza in Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province. As many as 100,000 people attended the concert.


On October 31st, Tan cut the ribbon at the celebration ceremony of the newly-built Tan Jing Spring Bud School in Xinjiang County, Shanxi Province. She was engaged as ¡°honorary headmaster¡± of the school and donated another 100,000 RMB to serve as student grants.


On November 9th, Tan attended the evening party celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
