In January, Tan attended the large-scale benefit performance for the people in stricken areas called Love¡ªFrom China sponsored by the Red Cross Society of China.


In February, Tan participated in the Spring Festival Celebration Party held by CCTV and the Ministry of Culture, the ¡°Double Supports¡± evening party, the Gala concert for the 2000 Chinese Spring Festival held by CCTV, the Spring Festival Celebration Party by the Ministry of Public Security of the PRC and the Spring Festival Gala by China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.


In May, Tan went to Africa to perform for the Chinese military scientists there together with the Song and Dance Troupe of the PLA.


In June, Tan won the title of Best Female Folk Vocal Singer at the 2nd China Golden Disc Award.


On June 22nd, Tan participated in the Scene Drama called Give Your Love to the Children held at the 4th National childrens charity campaign.


From July to August, Tan participated in the rehearsal and performance of the original musical Crazy Snow held by the Shanghai Media Group to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the world anti-fascism war and her performance was highly spoken of.


At the end of August, Tan sang the Meiniang song at the musical scene party For Justice and Peace held by the Ministry of Culture to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the world anti-fascism war.


In October, Tan won the title of one of the top ten singers among soldiers of the YinWang (Sound King) Cup.


In December, Tan¡¯s album Why the Flowers are So Red won the 5th China Golden Disc Award.
